Plane rides can be stressful enough without the added annoyance of feeling physically uncomfortable throughout the journey. While I usually reach for leggings or run-of-the-mill sweatpants for my long-haul flights, I’ve been seeing airport trousers everywhere this summer. Stay with me!
What exactly are they? Well, when you want to be comfortable, but also want to look put-together upon arrival, airport trousers are the answer. They’re loose-fitting pull-on pants with an elevated look. No buttons and zippers; just throw them on and go. Best of all, they’re nice enough to wear on your vacation, too.

These pants are what I picture when someone says “airport trousers.” They have an elastic and drawstring waist, pockets, and a loose fit. No fuss here; just pull them on and you’ll stay comfortable while looking much more put-together than half of your fellow travelers.
A high, stretchy waistband and loose fit will be comfortable to wear on a long flight. My favorite feature here is that the pants are slightly cropped, ending at the ankle, so they won’t drag the ground as you dash between connecting flights.
These 100% cotton pants check all of the airport trouser boxes (elastic waist, loose fit, pockets). Plus, they have pretty lace details at the ankles, so you’ll be comfy on the plane and they’ll look cute in your vacation photos, too.
Get a denim look with the comfort of sweatpants. These pull-on pants are a cotton-polyester blend, but with 13% spandex to make them extra-stretchy. You’ll still get front and back pockets, though.
Khaki, but gingham? Yes, please! I like the popular barrel shape here—wide legs, slightly tapered at the ankle—plus the elastic waist and pockets. They’re also 100% cotton, which is soft and breathable.
Take a break from solids with these fun stripes—or choose from 29 other colors and patterns! The pants have a wide elastic high waist and deep pockets. Pair them with a comfortable white sneakers or your favorite black flats.
Made with a linen-cotton blend, this is a good pick if you’re looking for something lightweight and breathable. Other than the high, smocked waist, I really like the deep pockets (two in the front and one in the back) for keeping your phone, earbuds, or boarding pass safe.
Want an extra-baggy style without looking frumpy? Go with palazzo pants. These are a rayon and linen blend, and the wide, flowy legs will keep you cool and comfortable no matter where you’re traveling this summer.
If you’re traveling for work, but don’t want to sacrifice comfort, these pull-on dress pants may be the way to go. They’re stretchy, pleated in the front, and won’t wrinkle easily, which is perfect if you have to go straight from the airport to the office.
If you want a slimmer look, these Baleaf pants fit the bill. They’re still pull-on pants, but there’s an added drawstring inside so you can get just the right fit. The cropped ankles are cuffed and they have five pockets. Bonus: The two in the back have zippers!
