Yes, it's really that simple! The hardest part of this recipe is waiting for the whole thing to bake. This fruity cake is best enjoyed warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a big dollop of whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
  • 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple in its own juice
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into slices
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Directions

    1. Step 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Stir together cherry pie filling and crushed pineapple in the bottom of a 9- by 13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over the top. Place sliced butter in a single layer over the cake mix. 
    2. Step 2Bake, until cake is golden brown and bubbly, 45 minutes to 1 hour. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream alongside.
