Once you cook popcorn over the campfire, you'll wonder why you've been cooking it any other way. (You may also become more prone to wearing flannel and carrying an axe.)

To get popping, toss 1/4 cup of popcorn kernels with 1 Tbsp. canola oil in a disposable pie tin. (Or you can use a proper campfire popper, if you're fancy like that.) Cover tightly with foil, then place on a campfire. Let pop, shaking the tin often with long grilling tongs. Once all popping stops, remove the tin with the same tongs. (Note: Adults should be on tong duty.)

To season, author and entertaining expert Katie Jacobs suggests stirring together, 1/2 cup popped popcorn, 3 Tbsp. melted butter and 1 Tbsp. brown sugar in a bowl. You can also try tossing 1/2 cup popped popcorn, 1 tsp. each red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, and kosher salt in a bowl. Serve in a campfire mug as shown.
