Bedrooms are often the hardest rooms to decorate. In a cobbler’s-children-don’t-have-shoes kind of way, this space is usually left until the end when budgets and decorating steam have all but run out. So, if you’re looking for new inspiration, you’ve come to the right space. As Country Living’s resident trend expert, I’ve spent a lot of time tracking various trends, but in 2026 I wanted to do things a little differently. Enter The Country Design 100—a group of 100 designers, makers, architects, and creatives who are shaping the way we view, design around, and talk about country style in 2026.
I spent the latter half of 2025 and the early part of 2026 chatting with them about the various trends they’re most excited about. (Trust me, they had a lot of opinions!) Below, I’m sharing the three biggest bedroom trends these designers are looking forward to the most in 2026.
Bed Skirts Are Back
We’ve been watching the rise of the bed skirt since last year, when editor-in-chief Rachel Barrett reported on the return of this 1980s trend. “Given the rise of the cottagecore aesthetic as well as the grandmillennial movement and the enduring appeal of English country interiors, bed skirts have resurfaced as an easy way to add feminine flounce to a space,” she wrote. The trend has only grown, and our experts back up her reporting.
“Ruffle and shirring details on everything from upholstery to bed skirts to accessories like pillows and lampshades [are back],” says Roxy Te Owens, the furniture designer and entrepreneur behind Society Social. You don’t have to go with heavy, patterned fabrics, either. With the rise of lace and eyelet, it’s high time we introduce frills back into the bedroom.

Vintage Silhouettes Are Set to Steal the Show
If, up until this point, you’ve resisted the upholstered bed trend, I have good news for you: its popularity may be waning. According to our experts, antique bed styles are set to hit it big this year. When asked about the biggest styles they’re looking forward to in 2026, Amie and Jolie Sikes, the (sister!) design duo behind Junk Gypsy, declared that “vintage iron beds” are back. We’re going to extend that to brass beds as they’ve long been a favorite of British designers, and we are, after all, in the midst of a British design invasion.

Quilts Return to the Bed
Of course, no bedroom trend report in 2026 is complete without a mention of pieced quilts. Over the past six years, quilts have gotten the official cool-girl treatment, making them *the* must-have textile—if there can even be such a thing. Multiple members of The Country Design 100 mentioned the resurgence of quilts as a big indicator of country style trending at large, and long gone are the days when a quilt was just a humble bedcovering. You’re more likely to see them used as a jacket, pillow, or upholstery in 2026, but let this be the year we return quilts back to the top of the bed.
