Lainey Wilson and Kevin Costner are working together again, and fans of country music and historical dramas will want to take note. The two stars have joined forces on the new soundtrack for The Gray House.
The Gray House is a brand-new Civil War drama out now on Prime Video. The eight-episode miniseries, produced by Kevin and Morgan Freeman, shines a light on a group of women who transformed the Underground Railroad into an underground spy network during the Civil War.
While the premise has us seriously intrigued, it’s the soundtrack that will have country music fans tuning in. The 10-song tracklist includes music by Lainey, along with Willie Nelson, The War and Treaty, Shania Twain, and more. Lainey’s contribution is an original song called “Dead End Red Dirt Road.” She wrote the song along with Trannie Anderson and Paul Thomas Sikes.
Kevin is a musician himself with his Kevin Costner & Modern West band, so it stands to reason that he places a high value on a show’s soundtrack. He shared a black-and-white photo of him and Lainey on Instagram and wrote, “@thegrayhouseseries has one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in a long time, including a song from the talented @laineywilson. It also boasts songs from @willienelsonofficial, @shaniatwain, @thewarandtreaty, and more. And to make it even better, the series is scored by none other than my @horizonamericansaga collaborator, @johndebney.”
Fans left comments on Kevin’s post like “Lainey Wilson is brilliant 👏🎤” and “The soundtrack is just as special as the series, I’m obsessed! Great work, Kevin and all—Bravo! ❤️❤️” Another chimed in with “Love Lainey and Shania ❤️.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Kevin and Lainey have crossed paths. They both starred on the hit drama Yellowstone and contributed songs to the show’s official soundtrack.
