From Cabbage Patch Kids to Labubu, there’s always a trending toy that’s hard to get, so resellers go wild overcharging desperate parents and grandparents. The latest coveted collectible? Jellycat.
The adorable plush company out of the London is known for its high-end stuffed toys, often shaped like food or unusual animals. They’re already a bit on the pricier side compared to something like Squishmallows, with most hovering anywhere from $25 to $50, but resale prices can go well beyond that.
Shopping on Jellycat.com directly (or from retailers like Nordstrom) is typically your safest bet to avoid overpaying, but there are a few instances in which it might be worth turning to Amazon:
- Convenience: If I need a Jellycat ASAP for a gift and Amazon’s price is within $5-10 of the regular retail price (like Jellycat Jack).
- If It’s Sold Out Elsewhere: If I can find a really popular sold-out plush on Amazon, I might be willing to pay more than its retail price (sometimes even about $20 more, depending on how badly I want it)—as long as the seller seems legit. (More on that later!)
- Retired Finds: If a Jellycat has been retired, I might considering paying more for it on Amazon. This Coffee-to-Go Plush Bag, for example, is $24 more than its regular retail price right now—but since it’s no longer being produced, this might be one of the last chances to secure it.

A Toy Expert’s Tips for Shopping Jellycat on Amazon:
- Look at the Sold/Shipped by fields (under the price), and ideally shop Jellycat plushies that ship from Amazon for an extra layer of security, in case your order gets lost. If it doesn’t ship from Amazon, you’ll want to check seller reviews before purchasing.
- You’ll start to notice familiar resellers like Hippo Tails who frequently offer reasonable prices. To me, this makes them feel like a trusted seller, though I still always compare the regular retail price and check recent reviews before deciding if even a slight price gauge is worth it.
- I almost always check Jellycat’s website to compare an Amazon price to the original retail price. For instance, I spotted this Amuseable Peanut for $40 on Amazon, which doesn’t seem like a bad price, but then checked the official site where it’s available for $23. As I said above, though, sometimes it’s okay to pay more at your discretion, if a popular plush is sold out elsewhere or retired and hard to find. Just remember to peek at seller reviews either way!
- Size matters when shopping for Jellycat. Many of their plushies come in a variety of sizes, and you’ll often see a small size being sold for the cost of a medium—so make sure to check dimensions.
- If you see “too good to be true” Jellycat prices on TikTok shop or Amazon, there’s probably a reason. Remember that you might not always be getting what’s shown in the photo.
Does all of this seem like a lot of work just to buy a plush toy? Yes. But these cuties are worth it!
