The Royal Family have shared a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse of the breathtaking gardens at Buckingham Palace, in celebration of National Gardening Week (27th April to Sunday 3rd May 2020).

Posting on their Twitter page, the short 14-second video clip shows the colour-filled gardens and sprawling trees in all their fullness. The caption says: "This week we're celebrating National Gardening Week, and the enormous benefits nature can have on our wellbeing - particularly during these challenging times."

It's also worth watching the video with the sound on to hear the soul-soothing melody of birds tweeting outside.

As well as the video, the Royal family have also shared close-up images of beautiful wisteria, a pink speckled camellia flower, bluebells and a flowering cherry tree. Head Gardener Mark Lane, who took the pictures, said: "Everything looks so fresh and promising. Spring is here."

Other head-turning features in the garden include two trees which were planted by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, a glistening lake, wildflower meadows, Himalayan Cedar trees, a summerhouse, helicopter pad and a tennis court. You'll also find 40-acres of well-kept lawns, which Her Majesty uses to host her famous summer parties (sadly, they have been cancelled for this year).

Due to the ongoing lockdown restrictions, The Queen and Prince Phillip are currently self-isolating at Windsor Castle, along with a small handful of dedicated staff. Earlier this month, we also saw Her Majesty address the nation in a speech to honour those working in the NHS.
