The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated the fourth birthday of their youngest child, Prince Louis, on Saturday (23 April) by sharing a series of adorable new photos of the young royal on their official Instagram account on the eve of his big day.

As has become tradition with the Cambridge kids' birthdays, the new pictures were taken by mum Kate, a keen photographer.

In the sweet snaps, Prince Louis is pictured looking happy and relaxed while playing barefoot on a beach. Showing off his sporty side, the young prince is shown getting ready to sprint and holding a cricket ball.

He's wearing a casual outfit, consisting of a star print grey jumper over a checked white shirt and classic green shorts.

Will and Kate captioned the photos with, "4 years old tomorrow!" before crediting them to the duchess.

This is the first time royal fans have seen the four-year-old in a while, as he was too young to join older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte at the late Prince Philip's memorial service in March and the Easter celebrations that took place earlier this month.

Happy birthday, Prince Louis!
