The best 100 local restaurants for 2024 have been named by The Good Food Guide.

Following a staggering 60,000 nominations of beloved bistros, brasseries, pubs and cafés, undercover inspectors whittled down the extensive list to just 100 restaurants.

All the spots featured on this year’s guide are bursting with local creativity and talent, offer personal hospitality as well as community spirit, and are affordable.

The Good Food Guide adds: “All the establishments in our 2024 list of 100 Best Local Restaurants offer a winning combination of locally sourced seasonal produce, inestimable value for money, genuine personal warmth and an overriding sense of community.

“As independent enterprises, they are gastronomically and socially invaluable to their neighbourhoods and deserve all the support we can give them. Eating out locally has never been so diverse, so thrilling, so satisfying."

Topping the list as the overall winner is Bavette – a French Bistro in Leeds that opened in February this year, with Sandy Jarvis and Clément Cousin at the helm.

Chloë Hamilton, co-editor of The Good Food Guide, said: “[The] way they’ve brought [Bavette] to life – excellent bistro cooking, an adventurous, engaging wine list (including bottles from Clément’s family of organic winemakers in the Loire), and the energy and warmth of the team – make it irresistible.

“They’ve had first birthday parties and 90th birthday parties here. It has lit up the community.”

The team have also selected winners by region – with the traditional and informal Greyhound Inn in Suffolk, buzzy Malaysian spot Mambow in London, and village pub In At The Sticks in Wales taking the top spots.
