Nestled across a meadow and babbling stream, this eco property is the ideal off-the-beaten track retreat. Sat within a raised terrace, the bothy has one bedroom, one bathroom, a light-filled living room area, small kitchen with a Belfast sink, plus a claw-foot bath situated outside.
The place has an easy-going loveliness about it. Surrounded by nothing but rolling verdant hills and the soul-soothing sound of birds singing, it's like a little slice of countryside paradise. Some of our favourite head-turning features include the raised mezzanine area, wooden beams, wood burner (perfect for cooler evenings), and the wood-fired hot tub, too.
The real trump card here, however, has to be the outside bathtub. Overlooking the idyllic Welsh countryside, it gives a whole new meaning to bathing in style.
Wonderfully, sustainability is at the heart of this cottage; there's a composting toilet, firewood, and rechargeable lamps and torches for when the sun goes in. The owners will provide miniature shower essentials, but why not pack your own shampoo bars instead?
As for the area, there are 50 acres of land with heaps to discover including woods, streams and beautiful views. If you're in the mood for something more adventurous, try pony trekking at the centre nearby. Hay-on-Wye, just five miles away, is famous for its international book festival, so is definitely worth visiting during your stay.
