Ramblers will be pleased to know that the UK's most beautiful walks have been uncovered — and Helvellyn via Striding Edge in the Lake District has been crowned the best route.

From the chalk cliffs of Kent to the mighty mountains of Scotland, research by the Outdoor Guide and ITV's Britain's Favourite Walk poll found the best scenic walks which Brits love to stomp along.

Of course, during lockdown restrictions, we cannot travel around the UK but the list certainly gives us something to look forward to once life returns to normal.

While the Lake District took the top spot, Snowdon's Llanberis Path in Wales came in second and the Malham Cove and Gordale Scar walk in the Yorkshire Dales was third. Other areas to make the list include routes in Northumberland, Pembrokeshire, the South Downs and Cornwall.

Looking for a walk you can enjoy once lockdown restrictions lift? The team explain: "We've compiled every route into one big collection, complete with maps, detailed descriptions and photographs. All you need to do is pick out the ones you want to walk, get out there and start exploring, then tell us all about your adventures on social media."
