Pancake day: the one evening of the year when it's socially acceptable to throw food all over your kitchen (accidentally, of course). It doesn't seem fair to leave dogs out of this family fun.

Fortunately, the dog health experts at YuMOVE have created a dog pancake recipe featuring human foods dogs can eat safely, all of which you should have in your pantry already. And the best part? It's super easy to make and only costs an estimated 24p.

Topped with some healthy treats, such as banana, chopped apple or xylitol-free peanut butter, this dog pancake recipe will ensure a fun evening of treats for humans and dogs alike.

YuMOVE's dog-diet experts recommend feeding your dog just one or two pancakes as a special treat, though: "Although all of the ingredients are safe for dogs, too many could cause them to have an upset stomach or disrupt their diet."

As with human pancakes, these are best enjoyed in moderation. And unlike human pancakes, if you drop them on the floor during flipping, the recipient will likely hoover them up straight away anyway. What's not to love?

50 g plain flour
100 ml water
1 egg
Drizzle of olive oil

Directions

1. Step 1Mix the flour, egg and water in a bowl
2. Step 2Add a drizzle of olive oil to a frying pan and bring to a medium heat
3. Step 3Use a ladle to scoop a portion of the batter mix into the pan
4. Step 4Cook for 30 to 40 seconds on each side, until the edges start to colour, then flip
5. Step 5Add your chosen toppings
