Ingredients
- Cornmeal, for dusting baking sheet
- Flour, for dusting work surface
- 1 lb. pizza dough
- 8 oz. lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 oz. extra-sharp Cheddar
- 1 head butter, bibb, or Boston lettuce
- 1 medium tomato
- 1/2 small red onion
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- Kosher salt and pepper
Directions
- Step 1Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Dust a baking sheet with cornmeal. On a lightly floured surface, shape the dough into a 14- to 16-inch oval, circle, or rectangle and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Step 2Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the beef and cook, breaking it up with spoon, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the barbecue sauce.
- Step 3Spoon the beef mixture over the dough and sprinkle with the Cheddar. Bake until the crust is golden brown and crisp, 20 to 25 minutes.
- Step 4Meanwhile in a large bowl, toss the lettuce, tomato, red onion, oil, and 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper. Arrange the salad over the pizza and serve immediately.
