At its best, a bedroom is a retreat. It’s where you retire after a long day and the room that’s all your own to hold your most prized possessions. Although it can be easy to focus your decorating energy on the spaces in your home that more people use, might we suggest you treat yourself and give your own bedroom some extra TLC? To get you started, here we give you the bedroom paint colors designers are loving for 2026.

Whether you are looking to spruce up a guest bedroom or a primary bedroom, you’re sure to find the paint inspiration you need to get you on your way to the cozy bedroom of your dreams. While all of these colors are sure to shine in 2026, they will also add timeless country style you’ll love for many years to come. Be forewarned, though: with this new coat of paint, you might never want to leave!

Soft Citrus Hues

Designer Katie Rosenfeld layered a mix of greens, yellows, and blues in this cozy cabin bedroom.

Subtler takes on the yellows and greens are a designer favorite for 2026. “Yellow can be both warm and uplifting,” says Jensen Killen, co-founder of the design firm Logan Killen Interiors (one of our Country Design 100 honorees). “Something everyone could use a dose of these days!”

As neighbors on the color wheel, yellow and green shades share a common hue, so they are naturally harmonious and look good with warm woods and really any style of room. Try incorporating lighter shades like butter yellow in vases, art, or even tile, and complement it with accents in slightly darker hues like Farrow & Ball’s Beverly.

Muddled Basil by Sherwin-Williams creates a cozy, cocoon-like bedroom on the walls and ceiling in this Cape Cod cottage.

Nothing warms up a bedroom like a warm paint color: Think earthy shades of browns and neutral dark greens. Author and blogger Liz Marie Galvan likes using warm, muted paint color palettes and likewise “more of bringing the outside in with the celebration of botanicals and natural elements.” Consider pulling a hue out of a landscape painting you’ll use in the space and coordinating it with warm woods and subtly textured bed linens.

Eating Room Red by Farrow & Ball complements 18th century-inspired floral wallpaper in this renovated Colonial home in Connecticut.

Speaking of earthy colors, designers are also loving more vibrant colors inspired by nature. Designer Hadley Wiggins describes this set of hues as “Color with roots: botanical greens, ironstone whites, ochres, and oxbloods—earthy, not saccharine.” You can either use your paint color to select fun prints for bedding and window coverings, or conversely, you can start with a patterned textile from which to pull a paint color.

Calming Whites

The white walls (painted Simply White by Benjamin Moore) and mismatched antiques help give this bedroom a English cottage feel in a beach cottage in Del Mar, California.

Arguably, there’s no serene feeling like the one you get entering a room cloaked in varying shades of white. While white sure isn’t a new trend, it’s still a designer favorite for bedrooms. “White walls are softening, and rooms are getting fully color drenched in beige, from the walls to the ceiling to the trim,” says designer Jenni Yolo. Consider carrying the white in a hue of your choosing through to your window coverings and bedding and then adding a bit of color or texture with wood furniture and pillows.
