Dolly Parton shared an important update with fans as she continues her healing journey. In a lengthy message, the 80-year-old singer announced that she is canceling her Las Vegas residency as she continues to focus on her health.
Dolly’s Las Vegas shows were originally scheduled for December 2025. On September 28, 2025, she announced that the performances would be postponed to September 2026. Now, they are canceled entirely.
In a heartfelt message to her fans, Dolly says, “I’m here to give you an update on a few things going on in my life. First, it’s concerning my health. I have some good news, and a little bad news. But the good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments and I’m improving every day.”
Her message continues with her trademark wit and sense of humor. “Now, the bad news is it’s going to take a little while before I’m up to stage-performance level, because some of the meds and treatments make me a bit swimmy headed, as my grandma used to say. Of course, I can’t be swimmy headed carrying around banjos, guitars, and such on 5-inch heels, and you know I’m going to be wearing them, not to mention those heavy rhinestone outfits.”
The icon continued to go into detail on her prognosis, saying, “I told you before that I’ve always had problems with my kidney stones. Lord, they dig more stones out of me each year than the rock quarry in Rockville, Tennessee. But seriously, my immune system and digestive system got all out of whack over the past three years, and they’re working really hard on rebuilding and strengthening those.”
In addition to the care of her doctors, Dolly acknowledged the power of a positive attitude. “They say that a happy heart is like good medicine,” she says. If there was any doubt, Dolly has not stopped working. She’s preparing to open her Nashville SongTeller Hotel and working on a Broadway musical.
Dolly took time to thank her fans for their support, both during her health struggles and the loss of her husband, Carl Dean. She explained that all of the firsts since his death, including their anniversary and his birthday, were difficult, but she felt the love and support from her fans.
We’re sending our wishes for a continued recovery to the queen of country music.
