- Megan Moroney leads all nominees at the 61st ACM Awards.
- The “Am I Okay?” singer revealed that she will not be an attendance for the May 17 show.
- She’s missing the awards show to support her best friend.
Megan Moroney received nine nominations for the 61st ACMs—the most of any artist. She was up for Entertainer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (Artist and Songwriter), Single of the Year, Music Event of the Year, Visual Media of the Year (for Artist and Director), and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. But the 28-year-old singer was notably absent from the event.
Fans may have been hoping to see the “Am I Okay?” singer on the red carpet or performing during the show, but Megan RSVP’d to another event—her best friend’s wedding!
Megan shared a candid shot of her and her friend wearing coordinating Bride and Bridesmaid sweatsuits for the occasion. She shared the message, “I’m so honored to be nominated tonight at @acmawards & I’m rooting on all my friends from afar! I’m out of the country this week on MOH duty to get my bestie married.” The bestie in question is Natalie King. Megan and Natalie met during their college days at the University of Georgia.
She also shared a note that she’s counting down the days to her “Cloud 9” tour. The first date kicks off in Columbus, Ohio, on May 29.
Tune in to the ACM Awards at 8 p.m. EST/7 p.m. to see who goes home a winner! The show is airing exclusively on Prime Video.
