Lainey Wilson finally said “I do” to Duck Hodges earlier this month.
A slew of A-listers were in attendance at the wedding, but they were not the most important guests.
The couple ensured their fur babies would be present on their big day.
Lainey Wilson picked the perfect dress to marry husband Devlin “Duck” Hodges in, and together they chose the most perfect, beautiful cave venue in quiet Dickson, Tennessee. And of course they had to include the most important guests: their pets.
The couple’s dogs and Lainey’s horse, Cash, were part of the big day on May 10. They each brought a pup into the relationship—hers is a French bulldog named Hippie Mae, while Duck has a black Lab called Willow.
The happy couple exchanged vows, kissed, drank, wore cowboy hats and danced the night away before leaving The Ruskin Cave venue through the light of several dozen sparklers. It was a day that “felt like a dream,” per Lainey’s recent post on Instagram.
“It was everything that we could have imagined, to be honest. It was perfect. It was beautiful,” Lainey dished to People on the ACM Awards red carpet just a week after they said “I do.” The couple enjoyed a brief honeymoon in Sedona, Arizona, en route from Nashville to Las Vegas for the awards show.
“We wanted it to be special and beautiful, but really welcoming and comfortable for our guests,” she tells Vogue in a feature interview that accompanies nearly 100 photos from the special day. “We tried not to take ourselves too seriously.”
They dined on Cajun food—she’s from Louisiana originally—and had a 12-piece jazz band, the famed Rebirth Brass Band from New Orleans, to play live music. And despite having a custom-made Oscar de la Renta wedding dress, it was a laid-back event, matching the couple’s personality. “Our family and friends know how to have a good time, and the dance floor was packed all night,” Lainey reveals to Vogue. They were served Whataburger hamburgers to refuel later in the night.
All said and done, it was a stress-free day that didn’t even impose a dress code on wedding guests, which included fellow country star Luke Bryan and his wife, comedienne Leanne Morgan and her husband, Wynonna Judd, Ella Langley, Miranda Lambert and others. “Honestly, we were the ones that were a little less stressed,” Lainey further tells People. “Everybody else was worried about what they were going to wear to the wedding. We were like, ‘You can wear your birthday suit. We don't give a damn.’”
Her Frenchie, Hippie, wore a stylish satin bow that matched her leash, though she otherwise really was in her birthday suit. Lainey and Duck hope to someday have human kids in addition to their fur babies.
“We definitely want to have a family, you know, time is ticking. Time is always ticking,” the singer remarked in a No Filter podcast appearance in March. “But I think he and I would both be good parents, and I'd love to see him be a dad. Kids will be later. But we're definitely going to do it.”
