Reba McEntire On Her Personal Style Evolution
"One thing that hasn't changed for me is comfort. I gotta have it."

Reba McEntire has rocked her fair share of glamorous gowns and sexy getups, but the multi-platinum recording artist, actress and author wasn't always into fashion. "I was at a New York fashion show in 2001 while performing Annie Get Your Gun on Broadway and a reporter asked who my favorite designer was. I said, 'Levi's?'" McEntire recalls with a laugh. "Growing up on a ranch, that was all I ever wore. Man, have I changed!"
The country legend's all-American style is what inspired Josephine DiMarco, an apparel entrepreneur who's worked with celebs like Patti LaBelle, Suzanne Somers, and Susan Lucci, to approach McEntire about creating a signature clothing line for Dillard's in 2005. Today, the Reba brand, which includes home accents, luggage, and shoes, is still going strong. In honor of the new spring 2016 collection, McEntire walked CountryLiving.com through some of her favorite looks from her 40-year career.
1978
Singing the National Anthem at the National Finals Rodeo. "I sang at all 10 performances. It's the World Series of rodeo! If I had to wear one outfit for the rest of my life, it'd be jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt or sweater. And boots, gotta have my boots."
1990
"We copied this idea for an album-cover photo shoot from a Barbra Streisand picture. Love it!"
1992
"This look from my It's Your Call album photo shoot took me back to my rodeo days. One young lady I met had this picture of me tattooed on her back."
1993
"Sandi Spika [McEntire's longtime stylist] made this outfit. Her dad made a mechanism for me to step on and the outfit would open up and I'd walk out and away from it wearing a different outfit! The "candy dress" [as son Shelby called it] stayed right where I left it. So cool!"

"We were in Nevada doing a photo shoot. Sandi Spika made that jacket for me. I thought it looked great up against the old wood shed."

"I love wearing clothes from my Reba line. I was just in a meeting for our July/August collection and the fabrics feel like butter. They're very breathable and feel so good against your skin. One thing that hasn't changed for me is comfort. I gotta have it."
