Prince George will play an official role in King Charles III's Coronation, it has been announced.

The future monarch, who is just nine-years-old, will be one of eight Pages of Honour during the Coronation. He will be tasked with holding the King and Queen Consort's robes during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

Prince George will be joined by Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Nicholas Barclay, and Ralph and Edward Tollemache. The Queen Consort's four Pages of Honour will be her grandsons, Gus and Louis Lopes and Freddy Parker Bowles, plus her great-nephew, Arthur Elliot.

According to reports from The Times, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will accompany the King and Queen Consort, along with Prince George, in the procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. The children are expected to join the Prince and Princess of Wales in the Golden State Coach as they return to the Palace, although this will be confirmed nearer the time.

With just one month to go, Buckingham Palace has also released the official invitation for the Coronation. Designed by heraldic artist Andrew Jamieson, it features the motif of the Green Man – an ancient figure from British folklore, symbolic of spring and rebirth, to celebrate the new reign. Crowned in natural foliage, the Green Man is formed of leaves of oak, ivy and hawthorn, and the emblematic flowers of the United Kingdom.

Referring to Camilla as Queen for the first time, the invitations say: "The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III & Queen Camilla - By Command of the King the Earl Marshall is directed to invite... to be present at the Abbey Church of Westminster on the 6th day of May 2023."
