summer farmers market companion cover

As far as summer rituals go, there’s nothing quite like braking at the roadside stand on your way upstate—or wherever the call of the country takes you. There’s just something about all of the beautifully displayed produce—those cartons of fuzzy peaches! those hand lettered signs!—that somehow leaves us feeling inspired to eat more fruits and vegetables. (Extra points if the farmstand happens to sit in the shadow of a giant fruit-shaped water tower.)

We will, however, admit that on occasion we get carried away and stock up on so much produce that not all of it gets the love and attention it deserves. But not this year! In the name of getting more bang for our shuck—or making the most of your garden bounty—we enlisted our Food & Crafts Director Charlyne Mattox to compile her all-time favorite summer recipes from the Country Living archives into a tightly curated compendium of greatest hits exclusively for our Country Living All Access subscribers. So, grab your canvas tote and take heart that your purchase of on-the-pricey-side produce won’t be for naught. This is the year you really will eat ALL those tomatoes!

(If you’re not already an All Access subscriber, you’ll likely need to sign up or upgrade your current subscription to access all these favorite summer recipes, plus 1,000+ more. You’ll also unlock all of the other great content on CountryLiving.com like house tours and seasonal craft ideas.)
